  • Paradise Queen Trap System

    $30.87$40.26

Hive World supplies the Queen Trap System as part of the Paradise range.  It fits the Paradise bee boxes perfectly of course.  However you can still use with the regular timber supers, it just overhangs the edges.

The Queen Trap System works by providing an additional opening for the bees above the queen excluder allowing the beekeeper to close off the lower entrance to the brood box.  This therefore keeps the queen safe inside and unable to swarm.

  • Pollen Shovel

    $6.10

This handy pollen shovel easily scoops up your pollen harvest for collection or storage until the bees need it.  The two flat sides enable you to get right into the corners.  Lightweight, easy to use tool.

  • Pollen Trap

    $13.00

The pollen trap is an easy, economical way to harvest pollen. Pollen can then be fed to bees when natural sources of pollen are scarce.

You can also collect pollen to sell as a sideline.  Pollen must be frozen or dried to ensure it doesn’t go mouldy.

Always ensure your bees have enough for their own needs before harvesting.  It is advisable to leave the pollen trap on your hives for a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation allowing the bees to collect sufficient stocks for the hive.  Springtime is generally the best time for this as the bees collect far more than they need during this period.

This is also a safe and effective way to provide water for your bees in times of drought.

  • Section Divider

    $40.87

Hive World sells these 4 section size Plastic Section Dividers in packs of 8 to place between each row of sections in your section rack.  This prevents bees making brace comb and ensures an attractive level capping for each comb section.

Suitable for Langstroth as well as Dadant, National and WBC racks.

These dividers are easy to clean and have no sharp corners.  Most importantly they are “warmer” for the bees.

    Manufactured in 1mm polystyrene.

  • Section Rack complete

This is the premium way of producing comb honey with the traditional wooden frames.  For best results put the sections on in the peak honey flow so the bees build quickly.

Do be aware of the danger of tutin poisoning if you are wanting to do this north of Kaikoura and in the North Island – best to avoid comb honey production from January through to July if you are in a tutin risk area.  Look up the MPI Compliance Guide for the food standard for more information –  https://www.mpi.govt.nz/dmsdocument/20489/send

    $8.95

When using our Top Feeder with Lid you will require Hive World’s Top Feeder Rim which is specially made to protect it.  It makes a nice attic space in your hive for insulation above the hive mat to contain your top feeder for ease of access.   This rim is 75mm approx deep.

  • Top Feeder with Lid

Original price was: $13.65.Current price is: $10.23.

    25% Off

Hive World’s 6 Litre Top Feeder comes complete with lid and bee saver.

The top feeder is the easiest style of feeder for the beekeeper to manage and is commonly used by commercial beekeepers.

Our model comes with a fitted lid to keep the sugar syrup clean and provide extra protection for the bees.  It also prevents the bees getting into the sugar syrup if you are simply sitting the feeder on top of the frames.

However,  we recommend placing the feeder on top of the hive mat and making a small hole to allow the bees access to the feeder.  You are then able to remove the hive lid and refill the feeder without bees getting into the  syrup.  The fitted bee saver prevents the bees from drowning when they are accessing the syrup.

Our 1/3 Depth Super is specially made to go with the top feeder and give you space on top of the hive for the feeder to sit. Purchased separately –https://www.hiveworld.co.nz/product/top-feeder-rim/

Hive World’s Full Depth Plastic Foundation Insert fits neatly into Grooved Timber Frames.

Available in Full depth or 3/4 Depth, choose from plain or pre-waxed. Sold in packs of 10.

Plastic foundation needs to be waxed to encourage the bees to draw out the comb.  This is an economical way of providing for your hives as beeswax foundation is becoming an increasingly costly option.   Plastic is more robust than wax foundation therefore it can handle the extraction process repeatedly.

We also sell the wire, rivets and beeswax foundation for you to completely ready your frames.

    Sold in packs of 10.

  • Frame Wire Stainless Steel 500g

    $13.00

Hive World stocks 500g rolls of Stainless Steel Frame Wire used for wiring your wooden frames ready for wax foundation.

Wooden frames should always be wired horizontally to provide a strong framework for brood or extracting frames in which wax foundation is to be used.  We suggest you use our brass frame rivets to protect the wood from gouging when wiring up your frames.  Our crimp tools will tighten the wire as good as new so you can re-use your wired frames again and again.

  • Brass Frame Rivets 200g bag

    $8.60

Hive World sells our Brass Frame Rivets in handy 200g bags.

Use them on your timber frames to prevent the wire snapping or damaging the frame.

Simply punch the rivet into the pre-drilled hole on the  frame and then thread the wire through the eye of the rivet.  This prevents the frame wire from gouging the end bars and holds the horizontal wires tight.

  • Flexible Propolis Mat

    $8.10

Hive World’s high quality flexible Propolis Mat won’t crack when harvesting propolis.

This is a great way of adding income to your hive.  Simply replace your inner cover (hive mat) with the propolis mat in your hive and raise the lid slightly to allow light in.   This encourages the bees to make more propolis to cover the hole.  When the mat is full, freeze in a large plastic rubbish bag.  When chilled you can easily twist the mat and loosen the propolis.

N.B:  Autumn is the typical peak propolis production time.

  • Wire Crimper Tool

    $8.30$13.00

Hive World’s Plastic Crimping Tool makes tightening your frame wire easy.  Simply place the metal wheels either side of the wire and grip firmly and slide along the wire.  This tightens and crimps the wire at the same time without straining either the wire or your hand. This keeps your frame wire  supporting the wax foundation properly so the bees can draw out the comb evenly.

  • 8 Way bee escape

    $3.04$26.10

The large size of this 8-way bee escape makes it easy to remove the bees from your supers with minimal re-entry when you are ready to harvest.   The easiest way to use this is to attach it to a hive mat to make your own escape board.

Remember that bees will not leave a super that has the queen or brood in it.   You need to have the escape board above a super that has a queen excluder on top to ensure the queen is not in the super requiring emptying.  Once the escape board is in position, leave the hive for up to 24 hours to allow time for the bees to leave the super.  It is best not to leave much longer than this as the bees will find their way back!

Available in a multi-pack of 10 for economy.

Please Note:  Make sure you have enough room in the supers below the one(s) you are emptying to accommodate all the bees moving down.

  • Double Bee Escape Plastic

    $1.57$13.91

Our plastic Porter Bee Escape is used to empty the honey supers for harvesting.  It is advisable to put two escapes on each escape board in case one gets blocked, also this will clear the supers much quicker.  Ensure the hive parts are all bee-tight and you should have no problems with robbing.

Bee Escape boards are particularly suitable for urban apiaries as you will need to make two visits to the hive – one to install the escape board and the second to remove the supers once the bees have gone down.

Available in multi-pack of 10 for economy.

  • Entrance Reducer/Mouse Guard Metal

    $3.40

Hive World’s Entrance Reducer/Mouse Guard is made from zinc plated steel.  Beehive Entrance Reducers are used especially in the autumn and winter when the bee traffic slows down and other wildlife is looking for an easy food source and warm place to settle.

The reducer slots into two metal holders each side of the hive entrance to keep it in place. It helps to protect the hive from robbing by narrowing the entrance and giving the bees a better chance to defend their hive.  It also helps prevent wasps and mice entering.

When you are moving your hives, you can turn the reducer over and it safely locks the bees in, yet still provides adequate ventilation.

  • Frame Perch

    $12.60

Our Stainless Steel Frame Perch balances on the edge of your hive and holds up to 3 frames easily, giving you all the room you need to work inside the hive.

If you have ever knocked over a frame leaning against the hive you will know why this is such a good idea!  It also keeps your frames clean and saves you bending down unnecessarily.
